Belagavi: Even as candidates across the state approach astrologers to find the most auspicious day to file their nomination papers, here is one leader who has decided to go against the trend!
Four-time legislator and a popular politician in Belagavi, Satish Jarkiholi, who is also AICC secretary, has decided to file his nomination papers on Rahu Kaal, which is considered most inauspicious in astrology. The leader has decided to find out the most ‘inauspicious or unlucky day' as per astrologers' advice and wants to file his nomination papers on that day.
Jarkiholi has launched a crusade against superstition in the last few years and has been holding grand functions at regular intervals in graveyards and crematoria in different parts of the state. He invites rationalists from across the country and tries to create awareness among people about superstition and blind beliefs.
He has also decided not to enter his constituency, Yamakanmardi in Belagavi once he files his nomination papers. He claims he will not be involved in any election campaign and yet, will win by more than 90,000 votes this time, only because of the series of developmental works he has taken up in Yamakanmardi as its representative in the state assembly for the past two terms.
After filing his papers, Satish said he will be taking up campaigns in other constituencies except Yamakanmardi!
