List out, but Ambareesh remains silent
Bengaluru: A week ago, Mandya Congress MLA Ambareesh broke his silence to say that he will speak after the party announces tickets. But it has been two days since the Congress announced the list, but the Rebel Star, as he is popularly known among his legion of fans, has continued to maintain his silence, even though the party has picked him for the Mandya constituency.
Sources close to the star tried control the damage saying he was busy with the shooting for a Kannada film, which is ironically titled as 'Ambi Ning Vayassaytho’, which means Ambi you have become old.
The silence of the only sitting Congress MLA, who has been given the ticket without seeking it officially, has left Congress workers and his fans confused as the election process has gone to the next level of filing nominations.
It is believed that Ambareesh had sought tickets for his supporters from Mandya and Hassan district, especially after N. Cheluvarayaswamy, a former JD(S) MLA switched over to the Congress. Of his supporters, M.K. Rajesh and B.K. Nagaraj were keen on contesting from Hassan and Channarayapatna, but were not considered in the final list. It was even said that Ambareesh himself might not get the ticket as he had missed the events during AICC president Rahul Gandhi’s visit to the district which had raises many eyebrows in the party.
Sumalatha Ambareesh, his wife and a popular actress, too seemed clueless about her husband contesting from Mandya. “I have no information. You will have to wait for his announcement,” she said.
Party sources said that Ambareesh will file nominations from Mandya, but is upset now as the party has not considered his supporters for the tickets.
