Karnataka CM turns emotional, remembers Rakesh Siddaramaiah

The credit for making me Chief Minister should go to the people of Varuna, Mr Siddaramaiah said.

Later , campaigning for his son, Dr S Yatindra in 16 villages of Varuna constituency, the Chief Minister became emotional, remembering his late son, Rakesh, and telling people, “I am constantly missing Rakesh. Had he been alive, he would have taken care of everything. Now that he is not here Yatindra has given up his medical profession and taken his place. Since these are my last elections, I want to contest from Chamundeswari constituency, where I began my political career.”

Calling himself “a son of the soil” unlike “someone else,” in a clear reference to state BJP chief B S Yeddyurappa’s son, B Y Vijayendra, who plans to contest from the constituency, he asked, “What connection does he have with the constituency? The credit for making me Chief Minister should go to the people of Varuna. I am deeply pained to leave you, but I will be next door and you can always come to me. Varuna and Chamundeswari are like my two eyes. You must support Yatindra and ensure his victory with a margin of over 30,000 votes.” Mr Siddaramaiah and Dr Yatindra later met Suttur math seer, Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji in Suttur and sought his blessings.
