N. Chandrababu Naidu a ‘cheat’, says Subba rao, rejoins YSRC

Mr Naidu had not respected his age and his seniority, the legislator said.

Kakinada: Senior Kapu leader Varupula Subba Rao, the YSRC MLA from Prathipadu who had joined the Telugu Desam, walked his way back to his original party on Sunday. He rejoined the YSRC in the presence of party president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.

The TD did not nominate him in the first list, but nominated his brother’s grandson Varupula Jogi Raju (Raja), the district cooperative bank chairman. This angered Mr Subba Rao, who said TD president N. Chandrababu Naidu was a “cheat” and “deceitful.” He said Mr Naidu worked for his self-interest and not that of the public representatives.

Mr Naidu had not respected his age and his seniority, the legislator said.

He had contested the 1983 elections on a Congress ticket and later joined the Telugu Desam. He came to the Congress under late chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy and won the seat in 2004 but lost in 2009.

He was fielded by Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy in 2014.

“I made a mistake by joining the TD from the YSRC. But, I was cheated and Naidu destroyed my life. Naidu did not give priority and respect even to the Parvatha family who believed on TD for three decades,” Mr Subba Rao said.

He said that he wanted to rectify his mistake and had rejoined the YSRC. He would work to defeat the TD candidate and help the YSRC’s Parvatha Purnachandra Prasad win.
