Setback for TRS in civic staff polls

General elections are fast approaching and the GHMC employees' union election seemed to be a major setback for the ruling TRS party.

Hyderabad: For the first time after the state formation, in a major blow, TRS affiliated Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Employees’ Union lost the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Employees’ Union election to Bhagyanagar Employees Union (BEU) which is a BJP affiliated one.

As many as, 4,264 votes were polled in the election where BEU registered a thumping majority with 2,482 votes which was followed by GHMCU with 1,164 votes.

BEU candidate K. Shanker registered victory over U. Gopal of GHMCU and B. Yadaiah of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Employees and Workers Union which had secured 194 votes.

Sources claimed that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao's promises during the GHMC elections were not implemented and not even put to discussion.
