SPl Officer to monitor poll expenses

A total of of 1,842 employees would be involved in the election work, he said.

Chennai: Chief Electoral Officer Rajesh Lakhani on Friday said Aparna Villoori, a special observer to monitor poll spending, would arrive on March 24 to supervise the April 12 RK Nagar bypolls.

He told reporters that a total of 1,024 electronic voting machines would be used for the RK Nagar bypolls on April 12 and the total number of booths would be 256. The total number of voters would be 2,62,721 including 1,28,305 males, 1,34,307 females and 109 transgenders.

A total of of 1,842 employees would be involved in the election work, he said.
When asked about the allotment of ‘two leaves’ symbol, he said it would be decided by the Election Commission of India.
