TJAC rally in Hyderabad heats up Telangana politics
Hyderabad: The “unemployment rally” planned by the Prof. M. Kodandaram-headed TJAC in the city on February 22 has charged up the political atmosphere in the state.
The first rally of TJAC involving students against TRS government demanding jobs for youth is being supported by student organisations and Opposition parties.
Prof. Kodandaram is actively touring the state to mobilise students for the rally. His remarks on Friday that the TJAC would not hesitate to float a new political party to offer an alternative for people if the situation so demands, has created a political storm.
The ruling TRS leaders are accusing Prof. Kodandaram of provoking students against the government for selfish interests.
Right from IT minister K.T. Rama Rao and irrigation minister T. Harish Rao to all other ministers, MPs and MLAs of the ruling TRS are lashing out at Prof. Kodandaram, accusing him of trying to create an issue out of a “non-issue” when the government was making sincere efforts to provide jobs to youth and has already achieved better results in this regard in the last 2.5 years.
Mr Rama Rao alleged that the rally was planned to create law and order problems in the city by provoking youth and some leaders want the police to open fire and thus damage the brand image of Hyderabad.
Mr Harish Rao said the TRS never promised that it would provide a government job to one person in each household as is being claimed by the TJAC and Opposition leaders. “Will anybody say that? Is that possible? Is there any state in the country which could do that?” he asked.
