CPM, Congress deny talks with Vellapally Natesan

The reaction of leaders came in the wake of Vellapally's statement that his party had held talks with the Congress and CPM.

Thiruvananthapuram: Congress and CPM leadership on Wednesday rejected BDJS chief Vellapally Natesan's claim that his party held secret talks with them.

KPCC president V M Sudheeran said the Congress had not held any talks with Vellapally or anyone associated with him. "It is Vellapally's calculated propaganda to create confusion among the people. There is no question of having any discussion with him or his party," he said.

CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan also refuted Vellapally's claim on secret parleys with Marxist leaders. "He is continuing to adopt opportunistic polices. There are no circumstances on the ground under which we should have any alliance with him. The SNDP leader is maintaining a pro RSS stand," he told mediapersons in Delhi.

Opposition Leader V S Achuthanandan said he was not aware of any talks between Vellapally and his party leaders.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy refused to comment on the change in Vellapally's stand. “You know very well that I didn't react when Vellapally took a different stand. I am not going to react even now,” he said.

The reaction of leaders came in the wake of Vellapally's statement that his party had held talks with the Congress and CPM, suggesting that the BDJS was not in favour of just having an alliance with the BJP.

The SNDP general secretary also stated that there was enough scope for opportunistic politics in the state's political space.
