VIJAYAWADA / NELLORE / KAKINADA: Telugu Desam chief N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday called on party cadres to rededicate themselves to people's wellbeing and development ahead of NTR's birth centenary celebrations on May 28 this year.
In a statement, he announced that completion of party’s 40 years since its formation in March this year will also be celebrated on May 28. Party cadres must use both these occasions to serve Telugu people everywhere.
Paying rich tributes to NTR on the latter's 26th death anniversary on Tuesday, the TD president recalled the late chief minister’s landmark journey from being an ordinary person to an extraordinary leader. He said that in these troubled times, the TD should step up its struggle and agitations for the welfare of people, who were getting into a deeper crisis due to YSRC government's failures.
NTR’s death anniversary on Tuesday witnessed various programmes being organised by Telugu Desam to commemorate the memory of their party founder.
In Nellore, TD leaders organised a blood donation camp for victims of dengue fever, who are finding it difficult to secure platelets. TD Lok Sabha segment in-charge Sk. Abdul Aziz said as many as 250 party men came forward to donate blood duly following Covid precautions.
In Guntur, TD leaders paid floral tributes to NTR and donated blood under the leadership of Guntur parliament constituency Telugu Yuvatha president Ravipati Saikrishna. In Kakinada, MLC and former minister Chikkala Ramachandra Rao praised NTR as "Yuga Purushudu". He drew attention of people to several reforms brought in by NTR, including introduction of Mandal system and reservations to backward classes.
Former MLA Vanamadi Venkateswara Rao (Kondababu) garlanded the NTR statue and distributed clothes to poor in Jagannaikpur and Godarigunta areas.
TD Kakinada parliament constituency district president Jyothula Naveen paid floral tributes to late Rama Rao at the zilla parishad centre at Kakinada. Former Kakinada mayor Sunkara Pavani paid floral tributes to NTR’s statue at Sarpavaram junction.
