Denied site at Arkavathy? Get it in Kempegowda Layout: Siddaramaiah

When BWSSB authorities demanded dues from the BDA, Mr Siddaramaiah directed them to take up the work and funds would be released.

Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah assured those who have not got physical possession of plots at Arkavathy layout that they would get sites at Kempegowda Layout and that farmers too would get their incentive sites, said BDA chairman Periyapatna Venkatesh here on Friday.

Mr Siddaramaiah will chair a review meeting with BDA and BWSSB officials and then meet members of the Arkavathy Layout Allottees Association, he said. Because of litigations and denotification, over 1,800 site allottees and several farmers are yet to get sites.

As the BDA is finding it difficult to form sites in pieces of land embroiled in litigation, the government is suggesting that sites be allotted in Kempegowda Layout for those affected. Over 300 acres of land are entangled in litigation as farmers have approached courts, he said.

BWSSB officials have been directed to provide basic amenities like under ground drainage and water supply networks at layouts formed earlier, like Visveswaraya layout, Banashankari layout etc.

When BWSSB authorities demanded dues from the BDA, Mr Siddaramaiah directed them to take up the work and funds would be released. BWSSB authorities said that the BDA owed them Rs 30 crore.

The BDA will have sufficient funds after allotting 5,000 sites at Kempegowda Layout, which will earn the authority around Rs 1,000 crore, he said. Allotment letters to be dispatched to site allottees are being prepared and will be sent shortly, Mr Venkatesh said.

Arrested contractor should not delay work
Replying to a query whether formation of sites and construction of flats awarded to contractor Chandrakanth Ramalingam would be delayed, as he has been arrested by the CBI for illegally stocking new currency notes, Mr Venkatesh said that the work would not suffer. In the event of work getting delayed, a notice will be slapped against the company and the project will be retendered, he said.
