DCC president designate T J Vinod asks Antony Asanparambil to resign

Mr. Vinod said that a final decision would be taken after consulting senior party leaders.

KOCHI: Antony Asanparambil, Congress leader and vice-chairman of Maradu municipality, who was arrested in an abduction case had been asked to resign as municipal vice-chairman, said newly elected district congress committee president T.J. Vinod. While addressing a press conference at Ernakulam Press Club on Friday he said that though Antony’s party membership was cancelled immediately after the police registered the case, he could not submit his resignation from the post of municipal vice chairman due to legal procedures after he was booked.

Responding to queries on his resignation as deputy Mayor of Kochi Corporation, Mr. Vinod said that a final decision would be taken after consulting senior party leaders. “I will take all party members into confidence despite their affiliation to different factions. There are no immediate plans to withdraw the disciplinary action taken against those who contested as rebel candidates in the local body elections,” he added.
