Hyderabad: The All India Congress Committee will be announcing its list of candidates for the forthcoming Assembly elections after October 27.
“A central committee will be touring Telangana from October 21 and the list of candidates will be finalised in this tour. Later, the list of candidates will be announced,” said AICC secretary Saleem Ahmed.
The team of the central screening committee will start scrutiny work from Sunday, as Congress leaders are busy in Rahul Gandhi’s tour on Saturday.
The AICC screening committee chaired by Bhakta Charan Das has already been in Hyderabad for three days last week and has finalised some names.
The coming central team will finalise the list of remaining candidates.
The Congress party has to settle seat adjustment issues within the Prajakutami, as talks are still continuing between the Congress and the Telangana Jana Samithi. The list of candidates cannot be announced unless the seat sharing issue comes to an end.
It may be recalled that a 70-member list of Congress candidates was almost confirmed and many of them have initiated their election campaigning too.
