Teachers take out rally protesting against GO-317

These teachers had been transferred to these schools in the Komaram Bheem Asifabad district from Nirmal, Adilabad

ADILABAD: A large number of government teachers working in Wankidi mandal took out a rally protesting against GO-317 and placed a representation before the statue of adivasi leader Kumram Suru in the mandal headquarters in the Komaram Bheem Asifabad district on Friday. The rally was held under the banner of the ‘GO-317 victim teacher’.

These teachers had been transferred to these schools in the Komaram Bheem Asifabad district from Nirmal, Adilabad, and Mancherial districts.

Similar protests were organised by 'Vanta Varpu' in Kautala and Bejjur mandals and the protests were going on across the state. Nearly 1,000 teachers were sent to the government schools under GO- 317 in Asifabad Komaram Bheem district from other districts.

The teachers demanded that the state government send them back to their native districts. Many teachers were holding their kids as they participated in the rally.

Teachers Sainath Jadhav and Satish alleged the state government subjected hundreds of government teachers to humiliation and hardships by transferring them to non-local districts. The state government has brought GO-317 overnight without consulting the teachers’ organisations, they complained.

The teachers said it was unfortunate that the transferred teachers should work in the same district till his retirement and recalled that a separate Telangana state was formed on the foundation of local identity. They threatened to intensify their agitation.
