KCR inaugurates Banjara and Adivasi bhavans, tribal show enthralls crowds

After the inauguration, a huge rally was taken out from People\'s Plaza to NTR Stadium via Ambedkar statue at Tank Bund

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao on Saturday inaugurated Komaram Bheem Adivasi Bhavan and Sevalal Banjara Bhavan located in Banjara Hills Road No. 10.

Banjara Bhavan has been constructed at a cost of Rs 24.43 crore while Adivasi Bhavan has come up at a cost Rs 24.68 crore. Rao had laid the foundation for the two buildings in 2016.

Addressing the gathering, Rao called upon tribal leaders, officials and intellectuals to utilise the buildings for conducting brainstorming sessions, devise plans and programmes for the uplift of tribals in all spheres.

"I know Adivasis and Banjaras are facing a lot of hardships. Mere inauguration of these buildings will not immediately transform the situation of what they went through. That is still a long way to go," he said.

Recalling the days of Telangana statehood agitation, Rao said, "At that time, I used to always say that Banjara Hills did not have even a square yard for Banjaras. But today, we have built a 61,544 sq.ft Banjara Bhavan and a 82,009 sq.ft Adivasi Bhavan in Banjara Hills, thanks to our self-rule."

After the inauguration, a huge rally was taken out from People's Plaza to NTR Stadium via Ambedkar statue at Tank Bund with over 10,000 tribals, including hundreds of artists who showcased about 30 tribal art forms.

The cultural rally of tribals enthralled the people who gathered on the roofs of buildings to catch a glimpse of performances of various tribal art forms.

Ministers Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Satyavathi Rathod, TRS city MLAs and chief secretary Somesh Kumar participated in the rally.
