Govt 'murdered' Kodela, alleges Naidu

Chandrababu Naidu termed Kodela's suicide as a 'government murder' that was an unpardonable crime

VISAKHAPATNAM: While paying tributes to former speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao at the latter's second death anniversary on Thursday, former chief minister N.Chandrababu Naidu termed Kodela's suicide as a 'government murder' that was an unpardonable crime.

The vicious police force was used to mentally torture Kodela by levelling baseless allegations about the misuse of furniture. A senior leader, who served as speaker, minister, MLA and became known as 'Palnati Puli', eventually got mentally upset and depressed.

Normally, no value would be put on furniture used by dignitaries in high positions after four to five years of use due to depreciation. But, the government hunted him down and abetted his suicide, Naidu said.

Naidu recalled how all the four members of the Abdul Salaam family ended their lives in Nandyal, unable to bear harassment from the police and the ruling party leaders.

Addressing a meeting with leaders of AP Udyoga Porata Samiti, Naidu said that the TD regime signed agreements for Rs 16 lakh crore of investments that had the potential to create 30 lakh jobs. All those investments had gone because of the policies of the incumbent administration. Naidu said that during his first stint as the chief minister, he had filled 50,000 jobs in one go.
