‘Bombula Siva Prasad’, family face many cases

AP Skill Development Sattenapalli officer Sk Baji lodged a complaint against Dr Sivaramakrishna for allegedly shifting 30 laptops to the TD office.

Vijayawada: Former AP Assembly speaker Dr Kodela Siva Prasada Rao acquired the sobriquet “Bombula Siva Prasad” due to bomb blasts in his house in which four persons killed during the 1999 general elections.

Political analysts say that first-time Dr Rao brought bomb culture to Palnadu to counter the faction violence, attacks and murders that had become very common. Hence, initially political rivals started calling him, Bombula Siva Prasad, which later became a popular public usage also. Nearly 30 cases were registered against Dr Rao, his son Kodela Siva Ramakri-shna Rao and daughter Vijayalaksh-mi. A case was registered in the Thullur pol-ice station of Amaravati about illegally shifting furniture belongs to AP Assembly to his house and further several other complaints were lodged in other police station. Thullur police registered a case against Dr Rao on the complaint of AP Assembly section officer on August 24 under IPC section 409 and section 411 for illegal shifting of Assembly furniture. Earlier after winning the election for the first time in the year 1983, he carried attacks on Reddy community in Dechavaram village in Guntur district which got nationwide attention of media.

The transport department lodged a complaint with Guntur police against Dr Sivaramakrishna for not paying after selling two-wheelers. The showroom was seized in August.

AP Skill Development Sattenapalli officer Sk Baji lodged a complaint against Dr Sivaramakrishna for allegedly shifting 30 laptops to the TD office. Based on the complaint, police seized 29 laptops from the office.

Cases were also booked for misappropriation of `22 lakh from the Kodela stadium at Narasaraopeta, extortion, threatening, land grab against the family.

Several cases involve Kodela’s daughter and alleged promises to provide employment in exchange for cash. One Ala Sekhar of Narasaraopeta complained that Dr Vijayalakshmi and some TD leaders had taken `7 lakh but did not provide him a job. Adapala Siva Sai of Burnpet of Narasara-opet said Dr Vijayalakhmi and an aide did not provide him a job after collecting `3.50 lakh. Sk Khasim complained that dr Vijayalakshmi and an aide cheated him of `5.60 lakh after promising a job.

The other set of complaints were of extortion. Talla Venkata Koti Reddy said Dr Vijayalakshmi and Bommisetti Srinivasa Rao extorted `11 lakh to continue his real estate business. Aravapalli Padmavathi complained against Dr Vijayalakshmi for allegedly extorting `16 lakh to continue her possession over her farmland.

With Kodela’s son Dr Sivaramakrishna, most cases revolved around property and permissions. Moraboina Chandrasekhar of Lingamguntla Colony of Narasaraopeta complained that Dr Sivaramakrishna and his aide Gutte Prasad collected `20 lakh to run a liquor shop.

Ch Bhasaveswara Rao lodged a complaint against Sivaramakrishna and his associates for allegedly encroaching his property despite a stay order. Kotapati Mallikharjuna Rao alleged that Dr Sivaramakrishna and others had extorted `14 lakh to allow him to build his apartment.

Nellore Vamsi Krishna told the police that Dr Sivaramakrishna and others forcibly collected `1.25 crore to continue his real estate business.

Yenuganti Venkata Krishna Rao said Dr Sivaramakrishna and seven others extorted money and manhandled him and dispossessed him of his 17 acres. Kalva Ravi of Narasaraopet complained of being cheated of `4 lakh. Budamuru Naga-raju of Srikakulam district alleged Kodela and his son collected `15 lakh but did not give him a job.

Some cases involved brother and sister. Kandu-kuri Bujja Venkayamma complained that Dr Vijayalakshmi and Dr Sivaramakrishna cheated him. Vadlamudi Siva Ram-aiah of Vadlamudiva-ripalem claimed Kodela, Dr Sivaramakrishna and their aides extorted `8 lakh to continue his contract work.

Several other people lodged complaints in Chilakaluripeta, Naras-araopeta, Sattenapalli and Guntur areas of the Guntur district against Kodela family members.
