Ponnala flays Modi for silence on Manipur

HYDERABAD: Prime Minister Narendra Modi was expected to speak like a statesman during his Independence Day address but he let down the nation by his pack of lies with an eye on the general elections. He just mentioned that peace would return to Manipur, said senior Congress leader Ponnala Lakshmaiah, here on Wednesday.

If Modi considers parliament to be a temple of democracy why did he not speak about Manipur in the House? Ideally Modi should have toured the strife-torn state with leaders from all parties, he said.

Questioning Modi for claiming credit over the distribution of vaccines, he said, “The nation has made great strides in the pharma sector. This has been recognised by the entire world. Is he claiming responsibility for the Covid deaths?”

Modi has failed to keep any of his promises during his two successive tenures, he said. Modi is promoting the ‘aya ram, gaya ram’ culture, he said, while adding that he is guilty of bringing down nine governments in nine years.
