Karnataka BJP hopeful of general elections despite Cong's five guarantees

Mangaluru: As local body elections and parliamentary elections draw closer in Karnataka, the Congress party's guarantee schemes have emerged as a significant hurdle for the BJP.

The five ambitious guarantees outlined by the Congress have not only propelled the party to power in the recent state assembly election but also set the stage for a high-stakes political battle in the state.

The Congress's declaration of five guarantees played a pivotal role in securing its victory in the recent state assembly elections. With three schemes already in motion and others poised for launch, party leaders remain optimistic that these initiatives will serve as crucial assets during the upcoming elections.

In response, BJP leaders are actively devising strategies to navigate the impact of these guarantees on their electoral prospects.

"While these guarantees could undoubtedly dent the BJP's prospects in the upcoming local body elections, including the impending Zilla Panchayat and Taluk Panchayat elections, their influence might be limited in the parliamentary election," a senior BJP leader informed Deccan Chronicle.

"In the past two parliament elections, even when the BJP was not in power in the state, the BJP had outperformed the Congress. The credit largely goes to the leadership of Prime Minister Modi and the strategic acumen of the central leadership. Our central leadership has meticulously devised plans and is actively implementing measures to secure victory," he said.

"While the Congress's five guarantee schemes may have provided financial assistance to the people, the central government has bolstered their economic prospects through various initiatives. We intend to apprise the public about these schemes" he added.

The BJP leadership remains confident that individuals who have been left out of the scope of these guarantees may not rally behind the Congress.
