Congress demands ED probe against BRS MLA

WARANGAL: Bakka Judson, a former member of the All India Congress Committee (AICC), filed a complaint with the Joint Director of the Enforcement Directorate in Hyderabad on Wednesday against BRS MLA Aroori Ramesh, alleging corruption in various developmental works carried out in Wardhannapet constituency and mismanagement of the Mission Kakatiya project.

Speaking to the media, Judson claimed that MLA Aroori Ramesh revealed in his initial affidavit before running for election in 2014 that he possessed Rs 14.84 crore in wealth, which included both moveable and immovable property. However, when he was re-elected in 2018, his property was grown by 100 per cent in just four years.

Judson said, “The MLA stated in his affidavit before running for office for the second time in 2018 that he has Rs 28 crore in wealth, which includes both moveable and immovable property. Wardhannapet is made up of five mandals: Wardhannapet, Hanamkonda, Parvathagiri, Inavolu, and Hasanparthy. The government approved many development projects for the Wardhannapet constituency, including Mission Kakatiya and Mission Bhagiratha, to satisfy the constituency's drinking water demands. However, instead of undertaking progressive projects and collaborating with contractors for commission, MLA Aroori Ramesh accumulated vast riches and plundered public funds.”

He said that when the issue was brought to the Lokayukta's attention, it launched an investigation and summoned the MLA to his office. However, he pointed out that the MLA disregarded its directives and did not appear before it.

The Congress leader urged officials from the Enforcement Directorate and central agencies to conduct an investigation into the massive scam and immediately arrest MLA Aroori Ramesh for possessing assets and diverting funds meant for development work in the constituency.
