TRS MLA Chennamaneni Ramesh moves Telangana HC on citizenship

This followed a petition that the competent authority had not considered his case under Section 10(3) of the Citizenship Act.

Hyderabad: TRS MLA Chennamaneni Ramesh once again approached the Telangana High Court on his citizenship issue which has been pending since 2009 after he got elected as a legislator from Vemulawada.

Dr Ramesh challenged an order of a single judge issued on July 10 referring the matter to the Union home ministry and directing it to hear the case of citizenship issue afresh by considering the objections raised against his election a decade ago.

This followed a petition that the competent authority had not considered his case under Section 10(3) of the Citizenship Act. The Act stipulates that the Centre not deprive a person of citizenship unless it is satisfied that it is not conducive to public good that the person should continue as a citizen of India.
