Centre still tapping Congress leaders phones: Dinesh Gundurao

However, former deputy chief minister, Dr G. Parameshwara said that telephones were tapped to intercept the calls of anti-social elements.

Bengaluru: A day after Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Siddaramaiah demanded a probe into alleged phone tapping of political leaders including those from Congress, KPCC president Dinesh Gundurao claimed that the Centre is still intercepting the phones of Congress leaders.

“Even to date, our phones are being tapped by the central government. But unfortunately, the BJP leaders are making allegations of telephone tapping. Since your government is in power, you order a probe,” Mr Gundurao said adding that telephone tapping has happened earlier. He further said that tapping was done illegally, take action against those involved.

Meanwhile, D.K. Shivakumar reiterated that no telephone was tapped during the previous regime. He dismissed the BJP’s claims of telephone tapping as frivolous.

However, former deputy chief minister, Dr G. Parameshwara said that telephones were tapped to intercept the calls of anti-social elements.

“If the government felt that telephones of politicians and others were tapped, it can order a probe,” he said.
