BJP: CM solely responsible for KLIS disaster

BJP says the cost alone to repair the pumps at Annaram and Kannepalli pumphouses will be around at least Rs 500 crore

HYDERABAD: The BJP on Saturday said the entire responsibility for the disaster resulting from the flooding of Kaleshwaram project pump houses rests with Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, and the cost alone to repair the pumps at Annaram and Kannepalli pumphouses will be around at least Rs 500 crore.

Party’s state spokesperson N.V. Subhash said the submergence of the pump houses in the floods to Godavari river showcases the corrupt practices of the Telangan Rashtra Ssamiti government. He said that according to officials, in addition to the repair costs, it will take at least four years to repair the motors and bring them back into working condition.

Subhash said thousands of farmers lost their crops in an extent of 11 lakh acres in the state because of heavy rains and floods and the government must immediately provide them with relief and aid to help them overcome their losses.

Had the state joined the Prime Minister Fasal Bima Yojana, the farmers could have been saved from distress, he said. Subhash said the people in Telangana state were vexed with the Telangana Rashtra Samiti rule and were waiting for the opportunity to throw the ruling party out of power.
