P K Kunhalikkutty, MP, to take oath today
Kunhalikutty won the by-election, with a whopping majority of 1,71,023 votes.

Malappuram: Amidst the election to appoint the next President of India at Parliament House in New Delhi, the Indian Union Muslim League’s national general secretary and MP elect from Malappuram lok Sabha constituency, P.K Kunhalikutty will take oath as Member of Parliament before the speaker on Monday. He, along with close aides and family members, flew to Delhi on Sunday for the swearing in ceremony. Kunhalikutty won the by-election, with a whopping majority of 1,71,023 votes, from the constituency which fell vacant due to the demise of his predecessor and former union minister E. Ahmed earlier this year.
He said that a tangible coordination of opposition parties had taken place in the Presidential elections. “A majority of the political parties in the country are democratic and secular. If they unite in the upcoming general election, the result will be in favour of UPA. IUML will further step up its activities under the UPA,” Kuhalikutty said before setting out for Delhi on Sunday. “The League will stand strongly against the atrocities against minorities and dalits. As per the request of the UDF leadership, I will be active in state politics as well,” he said.
