TRS govt not taking up development works with central funds: BJP

Sridhar said the TRS is worried that the BJP government will earn a good name if the developmental works were taken up

Warangal: Even as central funds are coming in, the Telangana government is not taking up developmental works and not making attempts to resolve major public issues, alleged the Warangal district BJP president Kondeti Sridhar on Thursday.

The BJP leaders led a people’s protest on the damaged road in Medarwada in Warangal city of Hanamkonda district.

Sridhar said the TRS is worried that the BJP government will earn a good name if the developmental works were taken up in TS with central funds. “The TRS government is not showing any interest in taking up road laying works from Chowrasta to Medarwada, one of the busy streets in Warangal city.

There have been many accidents on the damaged road that has several pits on it. The residents of the colony, some of them having been injured in such mishaps, took the issue to the notice of the local people’s representatives and concerned officials repeatedly, but to no avail.

The BJP leader said, “For development of Warangal city, the central government has sanctioned thousands of crores under HRIDAY, AMRUT and Smart city projects. But the state government is not taking up any developmental work in the city.”

The Warangal East assembly segment in-charge of the BJP, Ganta Ravi alleged that the local TRS MLA was not in a mood to resolve the public issues and was least bothered about the development of the city, considered as the second capital of Telangana state.

With lack of development and damaged roads, several colonies in the city are getting submerged in water even when there is a mild rain. Shopkeepers, motorists and the residents of the respective colonies are facing a lot of hardships while passing on such roads. Many are getting injured and getting hospitalized following accidents on the road, he said.

“What is the use of taking up a Pattana Pragathi programme when the condition of the main Warangal city is so worse,” he asked.

“The government should take up the development works with the funds sanctioned by the central government. Else, the BJP will intensify the agitation and teach the TRS government a lesson,” he said.

BJP leaders Rathnam Satish Shah, Rajeshwar Rao, Hari Shankar, Vidhya Sagar, Satish and Kranthi were among those present.
