CM's kin in school business, says Congress MLA Challa Vamsi Chand Reddy

Mr Reddy refused to name the institution that he claimed were started by the CM's family members.

Hyderabad: Kalwakurthy Congress MLA Challa Vamsi Chand Reddy on Tuesday accused the TRS government of encouraging private educational institutions in the state at the cost of government-run institutions.

He also alleged that even the family of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has entered the business of private educational institutions.

Despite repeated queries, Mr Reddy refused to name the institution that he claimed were started by the CM’s family members. However, he promised to come out with proof on the number of such institutions and their names.

Mr Reddy, speaking to the media at the Gandhi Bhavan, alleged that the CM’s family members had collected huge amounts through various irrigation projects and other major works in the state and were now diverting the money by investing it in private corporate educational institutions.

“During the Telangana agitation, KCR’s family members used to criticise Andhra corporate educational institutions functioning in Telangana, but after coming to power, they have allegedly bought shares in the same institutions,” Mr Reddy said.

He accused the government of ruining state-run institutions by shutting down 5,000 schools citing rationalisation thereby depriving the right to education for the most backward, socially and economically poor sections of the society.
