CM Oommen Chandy hopeful of return to power
Kottayam: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has expressed confidence that the UDF would return to power with a huge majority. “I am not predicting the number of seats we will get. But the UDF is sure of a big victory,” he told reporters after casting his vote with his family at the Georgian L.P. school, Puthupally, on Monday.
“If there is continuity of UDF rule, it would be because of the unity in the front. But if there is a setback, I will be answerable,” he added Reacting to the evidence given to the solar commission by Sarita S. Nair, he said that she had said a lot of good things about him previously. Those who were waiting to see the CD given by her to the commission have been disappointed,” he said.
Kerala Congress (M) chairman K.M. Mani also said that the UDF would gain a majority. “The people of Pala have elected me 12 times and they will choose me this time also,” he said after voting at the St Thomas HSS, Pala along with his family.
Mr P.C. George, Kerala Congress (secular) leader, predicted that it would be a hung House and that the people of Poonjar would decide who will rule the state. He made the statement after voting at the government higher secondary school, Erattupetta.
