89.73 per cent cast votes in Palair bypoll

Khammam: Braving the scorching summer, as many as 89.73 per cent of the registered voters in Palair exercised their franchise on Monday. The poll percentage for the bypoll almost matched that of the 2014 general election.
Serpentine queues were witnessed right from 7 am at every polling station. More women than males were seen at all polling stations.
About 1,70,600 voters of the 1.9 lakh registered voters, including 86,499 women and 84,301 men cast their votes by 6 pm the 1.9 lakh voters. Election officials expressed satisfaction with the poll percentage and happiness with the voter awareness. Voting was by and large smooth, with only minor technical glitches like EVMs not working being reported from around the constituency.
