Dull Ooty campaign ends

A.Raja, who wound up his campaign trail at Sholur village near here, asked the voters to vote against the Modi government.

Ooty: Electioneering in the hills, the dullest in the recent times, has come to end on Tuesday evening.

Certainly the residents here would aver that the electioneering for the LS polls this year was the dullest in decades as it never picked up or electrified to poll mode over the past one month.

Barring the visits of Chief Minister Edappadi K. PalaniswamI, Deputy Chief Minister O. Pannerselvam, and AMMK chief TTV Dinakaran, no other big names in the politics made it to the hills to seek votes. The main candidates also put up a low-profile campaign here.

On Tuesday, the concluding day for the electioneering, the candidates
showed up in different parts of the hills to make a final bid to reach out to the voters. A.Raja, who wound up his campaign trail at Sholur village near here, asked the voters to vote against the Modi government.

AIADMK candidate M. Thiyagarajan, who wound up his campaign in Ooty town, appealed to voters to vote for the AIADMK front to elect a strong and stable government in the centre.

M.Ramaswamy, the AMMK candidate, concluded his canvassing at Gudalur in Nilgiris border and addressed a rally which saw a good turnout.
