CPM ups attack on BJP ‘communal campaign’

LDF cadres have fanned out in each constituency to expose the ‘communal’ agenda of the Sangh Parivar.

Thiruvananthapuram: CPM leaders led by chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan have scaled up attack on the BJP-RSS for ‘communalising’ Sabarimala issue for electoral benefits.

The back to back statements made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi accusing communists and Muslims of destroying Sabarimala, encouraged the local BJP leaders to rake up the issue prominently in their election meetings. With the BJP now making Sabarimala its main election plank, the LDF has come out with a political strategy to counter the communal campaign.

LDF cadres have fanned out in each constituency to expose the ‘communal’ agenda of the Sangh Parivar. In the family meetings being attended by top leaders including ministers and secretariat, state committee members, the Sabarimala issue is being explained in detail drawing a clear distinction between the real devotees and RSS-BJP bhakts.

The Left leaders say the RSS-BJP which failed in creating state wide unrest in the name of Sabarimala, is now making attempts to ‘communalise’ the polls raking up religious issues.

They believe that the ‘lies’ being spread by Prime Minister and state leadership of BJP on Sabarimal cannot be left unchallenged as such remarks could create confusion in the minds of a section of people.

The Left feels that the RSS-BJP strategy is to gradually step up the Sabarimala issue and take it to a high point in days preceding poll day. The BJP is trying to replicate the same formula which it had used successfully in states like Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh to make electoral gains.

The Left has accused the UDF of being soft on the Hindutva brigade. While the state Congress leadership seems to be silent on RSS-BJP’s politicization of Sabarimala issue, party president Rahul Gandhi during his public meetings in the state on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on the Sangh Parivar.
