Bengaluru: Gowda family interfering in BDA affairs, says Somashekar
Bengaluru: Not everyone in the Congress party is keen on JD(S) supremo, H. D. Deve Gowda contesting from Bengaluru north this Lok Sabha poll. Some of the party's MLAs from the constituency, including, Bengaluru Development Authority chairman, S. T. Somashekhar, have been making no bones about their troubles with the Gowda family.
Mr. Somashekar on Saturday charged that the Deve Gowda clan was interfering too much in BDA matters, making it hard for him to discharge his duties as chairman.
“The family knows how to take control of institutions like the BDA through various means. It is currently making use of a retired bureaucrat to get its work done in the BDA. How can I as a chairman, function freely in this situation?" he asked angrily.
Mr Somashekhar , however, added that the problem could be solved if both Mr Gowda and Chief Minister H D Kumarswamy held talks with MLAs from Bengaluru north.
Soon after his statement was aired on local news channels, former Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah held talks with the BDA chairman and at the end of it the latter was singing a different tune, saying that all Congress MLAs had made up their mind to work for the JD(S) in the constituency if need be this poll.
“We have been fighting with the JD(S) at the grassroots for years. But we have realised that this election is crucial and so have decided to work for it,” he said.
