AIADMK appoints new office-bearers
CHENNAI: AIADMK on Friday appointed 19 organising secretaries, including its senior-most leaders Panruti S Ramachandran and C Ponnaiyan and five senior ministers, while reorganising several district units.
Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and deputy chief minister O Pannerselvam, in a joint press release, announced the much-awaited revamp on Friday.
The reorganisation was on the cards for a very long time after the party officially removed V K Sasikala from the post of interim general secretary and appointed
Panneerselvam and Palaniswami as coordinator and joint coordinator. Ramachandran, Ponnaiyan, Minister Dindigul C Srinivasan, K A Sengottaiyan, D Jayakumar, C Ve Shanmugam and, Sevvoor S Ramachandran, former ministers Natham R Viswanathan, R S Rajakannappan, S P Shanmuganathan, S Gokula Indira, V Somasundaram, Rajya Sabha MP V Maitreyan and former MP Manoj Pandian are among those appointed as organising secretaries.
The leaders also appointed SPM Syed Khan as secretary of Theni district, M Sakkarapani as secretary of Vilupuram (North), P Kumar as secretary of Tiruchi Urban district, B Sathiya as secretary of South Chennai (North), S Ravi as secretary of Vellore (East) and R Duraikannu as secretary of Thanjavur (North) districts.
The party also split the north Chennai district into North Chennai (East) and north Chennai (West) and appointed R S Rajesh and T G Venkatesh as district secretaries. It also appointed S T K Jaggaiyan as the convener of the Anna Trade Union of the party.
