Rahul goes abroad to assist Sonia Gandhi
New Delhi: The Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi is traveling abroad to assist his mother Congress president Sonia Gandhi who is currently abroad for a health checkup. Ms Gandhi had gone abroad on March 9 for a health checkup.
In an official press release, Congress communications incharge Randeep Singh Surjewala said “Congress president, Sonia Gandhi, is traveling abroad for a health check-up. Cong-ress vice-president, Rahul Gandhi, shall travel there on Thursday to be with her and accompany Congress president on the return journey.”
Ms Gandhi has not been keeping well after the Varanasi road show which took place in August last year. She had fallen ill during the course of the road show and had to be airlifted to Delhi. In the last seven months she has taken a back seat and restricted her public appearances while Rahul has been leading from the front. In the five state assembly elections Ms Gandhi did not even do a single rally.
After the drubbing in the recent assembly elections of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, voices are being raised among the cadre of the grand old party for fixing accountability for the results.
