The CM was addressing a meeting where he inaugurated memorial for Jayalalithaa and MGR at Salem.

Chennai: Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palanisami on Wednesday said his government would overcome all the hurdles and continue to serve the people.

“Whatever the hurdles or suffering and maligning we are subjected to, we will overcome all by your support and the blessings of MGR and Jayalalithaa. This government will continue to serve the people,” he said, perhaps referring to his name being dragged into Kodanad estate break-in controversy. The CM was addressing a meeting where he inaugurated memorial for Jayalalithaa and MGR at Salem.

Chief Minister Palanisami has been accused of involvement in the crime by some of the accused in the Kodanad break-in case, a charge that he categorically rejected.

But, DMK president M.K. Stalin met the Governor Banwarilal Purohit on Monday urging him to direct Palanisami to resign so as to ensure a free and fair probe by a special investigation team headed by an IG of 'impeccable integrity'.

At the Salem function, the CM said the Omalur main road would be renamed as Puratchi Thalaivar Bharat Ratna MGR Road. Also, MGR's statue will be unveiled at Salem on the occasion of his birth anniversary. “There will be celebrations all over Salem district on this occasion and I urge the people to take part”, the CM said.
