Telangana: BJP gives 100 days to Congress to honour promises
Hyderabad: The BJP on Saturday said it was ready to give the Congress government 100 days to keep its election promises, while demanding that the promised White Paper on the financial conditions should contain information on the funds needed to implement its promises.
BJP Nirmal legislator Alleti Maheshwar Reddy, speaking on the motion of thanks to the Governor's address in the Assembly, said his party was of the view that the various promises and the Six Guarantees were only to seek votes. “These promises cannot be kept,” he said.
Taking objection to the Governor’s address omitting the mention of the late BJP leader Sushma Swaraj but giving credit to Sonia Gandhi for the formation of Telangana, he said the state was not formed because of “KCR or Sonia but because of the people” and their struggle.
While he was speaking about irrigation projects, finance minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka intervened and asked Maheshwar Reddy to ensure that the Centre accords national project status to Palamuru Rangareddy lift irrigation scheme. To this, BRS member Kadiam Srihari added that the House should pass a unanimous resolution on the subject and send it to the Centre.
