It was Congress that gave ministerial berth to KCR, says Revanth Reddy

Bhatti took exception to KTR's confrontational attitude while speaking and said instead, they would accept constructive criticism

HYDERABAD: The Telangana Assembly witnessed heated discussion over the resolution on thanksgiving to the Governor’s address to both the Houses with the ruling Congress and Opposition BRS leaders trading barbs against each other.

While Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy termed Opposition MLA and BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao an ‘NRI’ (non-reliable Indian) and said that he lacked democratic spirit, Rama Rao said that Revanth Reddy was not the elected CM but appointed CM of Telangana. Revanth Reddy also said that it was the Congress which gave ministerial berth to the BRS chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao.

Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad declared BRS president K. Chandhrasekhar Rao as the Opposition leader. BRS working president and Sircilla MLA K.T. Rama Rao said that the Governor’s speech was far from truth and that it resonated with the Congress’ beliefs and manifesto.

At this juncture, Deputy Chief Minsiter Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and minister Ponnam Prabhakar obstructed KTR and reminded that they were speaking about the ‘destruction’ unleashed by the BRS during the last nine years and that it was not fair on the part of KTR to continuously remind about the last 50 years of the Congress rule. “Sensing injustice done to Telangana, all the ministers also rooted for the cause of Telangana and resigned to their posts. Then separate Telangana became a reality which means there is no point in discussing beyond the last nine years,” Bhatti said.

Bhatti took exception to KTR’s confrontational attitude while speaking in the Assembly and said instead, they would accept constructive criticism on various government welfare programmes and policies.

The House also witnessed a heated discussion on Pothireddypadu project. The BRS leaders reminded that they had resigned to the posts demanding abandoning construction of the project and also said that except for former minister late P. Janardhan Reddy, none of the Congress leaders fought along with them.

Siddipet MLA T. Harish Rao (BRS) also interfered and said that it was the BRS which had come to the of the Congress during the 2014 elections by having an alliance with the party.
