Kaleswaram project a white elephant: Telugu Desam
Hyderabad: The TS TD on Thursday demanded the state government explain how Kaleswaram-Mallannasagar project involving huge capital expenditure as well as power expenditure will be viable.
TD politburo member and former MP Ravula Chandrasekhar Reddy, who addressed the media on Thursday evening, referred a report on the project in these columns on Wednesday, said that even the government has conceded that Rs 28,000 would be spent on electricity charges alone for one acre crop besides capital investment. He asked the government to explain the viability of the project.
Mr Reddy also slammed the government for keeping the DPR a secret and said that it was so far unable to make any plea to the Centre to accord national project status to the Kaleswaram project.
He demanded the government examine various issues brought out in the experts’ report and do some soul-searching before vehemently denying the report. To a question, the TD leader said his party MLAs will raise these issues in the ensuing Assembly session.
