Hyderabad: TPCC vice-president Mallu Ravi on Friday asked the government to initiate talks with striking RTC unions after they dropped their main demand of the merger of the corporation with the government. He pointed out that the government had not responded even as the strike entered the 41st day.
Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan, Mr Ravi said that in a democracy it is not good for the government to refuse to hold talks and strike a compromise, and that employees ‘self-dismiss’ themselves. He alleged that the Chandrasekhar Rao government was working against the Constitution and beyond the laws.
Mr Ravi said a strike by RTC employees is not a new phenomenon, they had played a key role in the statehood movement when also they had struck work, The issue will be solved if the government holds discussions with the RTC unions before November 18 and inform the High Court, otherwise state government would pay a huge price.
