KCR will beat Jyoti Basu's record of 25 years: KT Rama Rao

TD had ceased to exist in the composite Warangal and Karimnagar districts, says KT Rama Rao.

Hyderabad: IT minister K.T. Rama Rao on Wednesday said Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao will break the record of the late Jyoti Basu who was Chief Minister for West Bengal for nearly 25 years.

Mr Rama Rao was speaking at Telangana Bhavan after admitting Bhupalpally district TD president Gandra Satyanarayana Rao into the party in the presence of ministers Kadiam Srihari and Etala Rajender.

Declaring that the TD had ceased to exist in the composite Warangal and Karimnagar districts, Mr Rama Rao said the late N.T. Rama Rao had floated the Telugu Desam as an anti-Congress party, and Mr Chandrasekhar Rao had started the TRS for the sake of Telangana, statehood. The purpose of TD had been served and it would be consigned to history.

In his resignation letter to TD president and AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Mr Satyanarayana Rao expressed his discontent over how the party had treated him since his joining in 1983. Though he carried the party flag for more than 30 years, he was ignored in the 2014 polls, he said.
