Setback to BRS: Noted Leaders Join Congress in the Presence of Revanth and Uttam

HYDERABAD: In a setback to ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), several noted leaders from BRS joined the Congress in the presence of TPCC chief A. Revanth Reddy and MP N.Uttam Kumar Reddy on Monday.

Former MLC Akula Lalitha and two municipal chairpersons of Huzurnagar and Bodhan municipalities left the BRS. While two municipal chairpersons joined the Congress, Lalitha said that she will announce her decision on Tuesday. She is reportedly in touch with Congress leaders and expected to join on Tuesday; she had left the party to join the BRS just before the 2018 elections.

Lalita also announced her resignation as chairperson of Telangana State Women’s Cooperative Development Corporation Limited. She is aspiring for the Nizamabad Urban constituency.

Huzurnagar municipal chairperson Archana Ravi Gelli resigned from the BRS and joined the Congress in the presence of Uttam Kumar Reddy, who is contesting from Huzurnagar. Along with her, three councillors also resigned from the ruling party.

Bodhan municipal chairperson T Padmavathy quit the BRS and joined the Congress in the presence of Revanth Reddy.

BRS leaders from Bodhan and Kodangal also joined the Congress even as BRS leader Neelam Madhu Mudiraj quit the party. The leader from Patancheru constituency said that he was given a raw deal despite serving the party for 10 years. He alleged that BRS has not done justice to the Mudiraj community.

In Vikarabad, BRS leaders joined Congress in the presence of Revanth Reddy. They include former Granthalaya chairman Marpalli Kondal Reddy, Darur MPP Hanumanth Reddy, municipal vice chairman Muktar Sharif.
