Congress criticises KTR's comments on Pravalika

Hyderabad: The Congress on Monday slammed BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao for his comments that 23-year-old government job aspirant M. Pravalika, who died by suicide on Saturday, did not apply for TSPSC Group exams and that her suicide was due to 'love failure'.

The Congress released the TSPSC hall tickets issued to Pravalika to debunk Rama Rao's claims.

Addressing a press conference in Gandhi Bhavan, Kanhaiya Kumar, AICC incharge for National Students Union of India (NSUI), termed Pravaika's suicide as a “murder committed by BRS government.”

He alleged that while unemployed pesons were committing suicides in Telangana, the BRS government was busy doing politics.

"A girl from a poor family committed suicide due to repeated cancellation of recruitment exams. But BRS leaders are busy in character assasination of Pravalika by linking her suicide with love failure. The way KTR talked about Pravalika during a live debate on a TV channel is shameful,” Dr Kumar said.

“He is trying to cover up the failure of BRS government by resorting to character assassination."

He also lashed out at BJP government at the Centre for the increasing number of suicides. "Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's regime, students suicides in India increased by 70 per cent. Suicides by students and unemployed surpassed farmers in the last nine years." he alleged.

In another press conference, Telangana Mahila Congress president M.Sunitha Rao alleged that the BRS government linked Pravalika's suicide to love failure in haste without conducting any inquiry into the issue.

"It's shameful that BRS leaders and police officials are spreading lies on the death of Pravalika to cover up their failures. We appeal to students, youth and unemployed to teach a fitting lesson to BRS in the upcoming Assembly polls," she said.
