N Chandrababu Naidu slams Centre for conspiracy against AP

Mr Naidu was speaking during a video conference on Neeru Prathi and the agriculture sector.

Vijayawada: AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said on Monday that he could tackle the aftermath of natural calamities but was unable to face political conspiracies. He said the BJP-led government at the Centre was acting vindictively against Andhra Pradesh in the form of income-tax raids.

This is probably Mr Naidu’s first public reaction after income-tax department officials raided his top aide and Rajya Sabha member C.M. Ramesh’s houses and residences for three days.

Mr Naidu was speaking during a video conference on Neeru Prathi and the agriculture sector. Mr Naidu lamented that with the help of technology they were able to tackle natural calamities but unable to handle political issues.

He said that while one national party had betrayed Andhra Pradesh in the past by unscientifically bifurcating the state, another national party had betrayed the state by its non-cooperation.

He added that AP was facing adversities in the form of state bifurcation and natural calamities like Cyclones Hudhud and Titli. Despite the odds, the government had been able to deliver good governance, Naidu said.

Mr Naidu said that the number of casualties at storm-hit Srikakulam were minimised with the help of technology. He said the government could predict where and when Cyclone Titli would cross the coast accurately, due to which human loss was minimised.
