Edappadi Palaniswami - Panneerselvam jointly call for AIADMK unity
Chennai: Celebrating the 46th anniversary of the ruling AIADMK, Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami and Deputy CM O. Panneerselvam exhorted the “1.5 crore cadres” of the party to work unitedly to strengthen the party in their first joint statement.
This is the only time that the two leaders have come out with such a joint political statement even as the rival faction leader TTV Dhinakaran reiterated to the media at Perambalur on Sunday that their “illegal” regime would be “sent packing home by the end of this year” once the Assembly is convened. TTV’s supporters and six disqualified MLAs including Thanga Tamilselvan left for the national capital on Sunday with the Election Commission set to hear the ‘Two leaves’ symbol case on Monday.
“Work loyally for the party and ensure a big victory to the AIADMK in the local bodies elections”, both Mr. Panneerselvam and Mr. Palaniswami, as covenor and joint convenor of the AIADMK, urged.
None can shake AIADMK
Tracing the party's long political journey for over four decades, they said none can shake AIADMK, nurtured by MGR and late CM J. Jayalalithaa, that had grown in stature dominating the political scenario.
“Work hard in unison and defeat the designs of the opposition (DMK) parties and others (read TTV Dhinakaran) and strive for a big victory for the AIADMK in the upcoming civic polls,” they said.
