Thushar Vellappally returns, sees no CPM link

Thushar also said that he did not wish the petitioner in the case, Thrissur native Nasil Abdullah, should land up in jail.

Kochi: SNDP Yogam vice-president and BDJS president Thushar Vellappally said on Sunday that he didn’t believe in the allegations that the CPM was instrumental in trapping him in the cheque bounce case in the UAE.

“I received help cutting party lines in the case. I was helped by the State Government and the Central Government,” Thushar told reporters at Aluva on his return from UAE following his acquittal in the case and release from a prison there.

BJP state president P.S. Sreedharan Pillai had said that he suspected a political conspiracy behind Thushar’s arrest, pointing the needle of suspicion at CPM. Earlier, Thushar’s father and SNDP Yogam president Vellappally Natesan had rejected the allegation.

Thushar also said that he did not wish the petitioner in the case, Thrissur native Nasil Abdullah, should land up in jail.

“There is one more person in the conspiracy with Nasil and I will reveal about him later,” said Thushar. He made it clear that he will proceed with the case unless Nasil Abdullah appeared before the media and tendered an apology in public over the issue.

He also said that BDJS is with NDA and will join the Pala bypolls campaign soon.

He said that Vellappally Natesan had declared the stand of SNDP Yogam in the Pala bypoll.

Earlier, Thushar was given a rousing reception at the Cochin international airport by SNDP, BDJS and BJP workers.

BJP leader P.K. Krishnadas was also present to receive him. He was also given a reception at Priyadarshini Municipal Town Hall at Aluva.

Thushar was arrested on August 20 on the petition by Nasil Abdulla that he was given a cheque for undertaking sub-contract of the construction company Boeing of Thushar which later bounced.

The Ajman court rejected the petition on September 8 citing that the documents submitted by the petitioner were not trustworthy. The alleged incident had taken place 10 years ago
