Bengaluru: BJP to raise cop suicide in Lok Sabha
Bengaluru: Seeking the removal of Minister K.J. George in connection with DySP M.K. Ganapati’s suicide, leaders of BJP have decided to take the controversial issue to New Delhi as part of their strategy to embarrass the Congress in parliament during the coming monsoon session.
Such a strategy was drawn up by the party’s MPs. “Since we are the ruling party, we cannot sit-in inside parliament. So, we will seek the permission of the Speaker to raise the issue of collapse of law and order in Karnataka in Lok Sabha. Suicides of two DySPs, resignation of one DySP and many such issues will be cited to raise the issue under a specific rule,” a BJP MP told DC. The party would submit a separate memorandum to Union law minister, seeking the intervention of the Union government.
To coincide with this, Mr Ganapati’s wife, Pavana, is likely to visit Delhi to meet President Pranab Mukherjee and PM Narendra Modi to seek their intervention in the case of suicide. She has already said that if she failed to get justice, she would go to Delhi to meet the President and the PM.
