Tarun Vijay to begin Valluvar padayatra on June 18
Chennai: BJP MP and president of Students and Youth for Thiruvalluvar (SYT) Tarun Vijay will embark on a padayatra from Kanyakumari on June 18 as part of his mission to install a 12.5-feet high statue of Tamil savant Thiruvalluvar, weighing 4.5 tons, in Haridwar on June 26.
The BJP MP from Uttarakhand who called on Governor K. Rosaiah at the Raj Bhawan here on Wednesday evening, and sought the latter's blessing for his "Thiruvalluvar-Ganga Payanam," wh-ich will reach Chennai on June 22 morning.
The Governor was said to have appreciated the idea and congratulated Tarun Vijay and conveyed his best wishes. The MP claimed that he would invite all party leaders, all ideologies and youth to participate in the Thiruvalluvar-Ganga Payanam, which will traverse via Karur, Ettayapuram, Madurai, Coimbatore, Erode, Tirupur, Kancheepuram and arrive to the city for a grand Abhishekam. "For the first time North India is being introduced to Thiruvalluvar in a big way and th-at's the great theme of Ganga Payanam, he said.
Himalaya is inviting the great symbol of Tamil wisdom and knowledge through Thiruvalluvar," Tarun Vijay said and added that Thiruvalluvar's message is universal and not confined to any section of the society. "He fought for the equality of all and thats the mission of the Payanam," Tarun said.
