DMK begins homework; party MLAs to target non-efficient bureaucrats
Chennai: Opposition DMK MLAs in Chennai have been instructed by the party to do their homework. The MLAs are now collecting details of pending civic works, issues related to ration shops, Tangedco and metro water.
Following instructions by DMK leader M. K. Stalin, the city MLAs are likely to attend monthly local body council meetings and also meet top government officials at the secretariat and collectorates to highlight public issues.
"Our party high command has issued standing instructions to meet officers regularly, so that public grievances are reduced", said Egmore MLA K.S. Ravichandran. Of the total voters in my constituency, at least 50 per cent of them have some problem related with the government. I have started collecting details of grievances from all wards in Egmore, he said.
"We have been instructed to be more active and take up public issues. To start with, I will be attending the corporation zonal meetings regularly so that the pending civic works in north Chennai are pushed for early completion," said Thiru Vi.Ka Nagar MLA Sivakumar. "Some officers in Chennai corporation, metro water and Tangedco are not efficient and there are cases of public complaints pending for mo-nths in Saidapet. A similar situation prevails in parts of south Chennai.
The issue had also been taken up to our party leadership and if this continues Stalin has instructed us to storm corporation and municipal council meetings", said Saidapet MLA Ma. Subramanian warning that the opposition will target non-efficient officials.
