Karnataka BJP's victory is gateway to south: Tamilisai Soundararajan

Karnataka Assembly elections results show the amount of faith people have reposed on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, she said.

Chennai: The BJP here, which is on cloud nine over the party's spectacular performance in Karnataka Assembly elections, has said the victory is the “gateway for the lotus to bloom in the South”. Also, Tuesday's election results indicate that people have rejected the Congress and its “divisive politics,” BJP state president Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan has said.

Karnataka Assembly elections results show the amount of faith people have reposed on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, she said. “With the Congress facing defeat, Tamil Nadu is bound to get Cauvery water,” a jubilant state president told reporters at Kamalalayam, BJP state headquarters here, reacting to her party's performance in the neighbouring state. “People have rejected the Congress. The fact that Siddaramaiah himself has been voted out in his own constituency shows the anger of people towards the Congress,” she said.

Attributing the victory to the Prime Minister and party chief Amit Shah, she said the BJP's victory streak in Karnataka would continue in the other southern States. The Congress, she said, faced a setback in Karnataka and the election campaign of the Congress leaders: Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi failed to make a dent among the voters. Later, Dr Tamilisai distributed sweets to party members celebrating the BJP's victory in Karnataka.

Referring to the “statue diplomacy,” which had led to the unveiling of Tamil savant Tiruvalluvar in Bengaluru and also the unveiling of Kannada saint-poet Sarvajna in Chennai during the tenure of Yeddyurappa and M. Karunanidhi as chief minister of Karnataka and TN, respectively, BJP state secretary K. T. Raghavan said a BJP government under Mr. Yeddyuruppa would augur well for Tamil Nadu. “He is not only capable of maintaining friendly and harmonious ties with neighbouring states but also will strive for development. I have high hopes of seeing Tamil Nadu obtain its due share of the Cauvery water,” he said.
