Kerala Assembly Elections: Candidates steal the show at private parties
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: UDF candidate in Kattakada, N. Sakthan, like most candidates, stole the show at a marriage at Vilavoorkal as he occupied the centre of the stage like an elder who is prepared to hold girl’s hand for the wedding. While some curious youngsters clicked candidates’ picture others claiming allegiance to LDF candidate I.B. Satheesh stood with hands crossed.
Tension overrode excitement which was evident in most candidates who chose marriage halls and churches which remained packed on Sundays. They once again walked along the people like in the initial phase of the campaign.
Candidates S. Sreesanth, K. Muraleedharan and O. Rajagopal converged on Pattoor Church, exchanged smiles and wishes and kept on appealing people. The cricketer enjoyed particular fanfare of the children while others were into elderly talks.
Elsewhere in Vattiyoorkavu, T.N. Seema visited homes, while V. Sivankutty went to hospitals and houses in his Nemam constituency though their managers claimed they took rest. Meanwhile, Kazhakoottam became tense and Pothencode police registered a case after notices that personally malign LDF candidate Kadakampally Surendran appeared.
The notices which did not bear printer’s name were dropped at houses. Early morning itself the UDF cadres circulated notices bearing hosts of alleged scams in other states by BJP. On the other hand, BJP focussed on alleged anti-development attitude of rivals.
Booths of all parties functioned like full-fledged office even on Saturday night as cadres were busy with person-to-person marking. Voters were reminded personally about the booth number where they have to cast votes.
