DKS on KPCC president's job: Will be happy if I am chosen

Mr Shivakumar said the first priority of the Congress was to effectively tackle challenges posed by the unprecedented drought in the state.

Bengaluru: Cautiously reacting to queries on a change of guard in the KPCC in the near future, Energy minister, D.K. Shivakumar on Sunday asserted that these issues are always addressed through a process of consultation with top leaders including Congress leader in the Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge, incumbent PCC president, Dr G. Parameshwar and CM Siddaramaiah.

Speaking to reporters at his residence after he was felicitated on his 55th birthday, Mr Shivakumar, considered the front-runner among aspirants for the PCC chief’s post, said, "I would be happy if the party and leaders feel I am suitable for the KPCC post. I will surely try my best to fulfil the party’s aspirations. But if the party decides to chose another leader for some reason, I will co-operate with the new PCC president."

Mr Shivakumar said the first priority of the Congress was to effectively tackle challenges posed by the unprecedented drought in the state. “This year too, I will perform a special pooja at Kigga in Chikkamagaluru to please the rain gods. If anyone pleases sage Rishyashringa who is blessed with supernatural powers, the particular region gets bountiful rain, therefore, I will soon be offering special pooja," he added.
