Chennai: State BJP secretary K. T. Raghavan slammed the ruling AIADMK for the anti-Centre Tamil poem in the AIADMK organ Namadhu Amma and said it raised “serious doubt” whether the paper’s editor had got permission for the poem from the Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami.
“Only a few days ago, while inaugurating the Salem airport and launching the direct flight to Chennai under Udan scheme, the CM had complimented the BJP-led government. He had then said the Centre was keen on sanctioning many projects, including mass housing, for TN. He has also complimented the Defence Minister for announcing the Defence Industrial Corridor for Tamil Nadu. Should we accept what the CM has said or must we take the poem seriously? Is the CM in control of his party, at least his party paper? Does not the Namadhu Amma editor have faith in what the CM says?
“Also, the allegations leveled upon the Centre are baseless. In the case of Neet, the Defence Minister had conveyed to the State that the Centre was willing to consider its plea to exempt TN from Neet for the second year, provided the State government furnished sufficient particulars to this effect. But the TN government had not acted upon it. Let the State explain this,” he said.
“It’s the same with the Cauvery issue. The Centre has sought time to implement the Supreme Court verdict so as to avoid further litigation. Minister Jayakumar does not appear to know that schemes for sharing river waters among States are not one and the same but they vary. The Centre is keen to bring the issue to its logical conclusion. Karnataka said it is ‘scheme’ and not ‘board’ whereas TN said its ‘board’ and not ‘scheme’. So when this type of confusion prevails, what’s wrong in getting clarification from the SC?
“The truth is that successive governments in TN have failed to resolve the Cauvery issue. That’s why we want to free TN from these Dravidian parties.
“Kazhagangal Illatha Tamizhagam, Kavalai Illatha Tamizhagam” (Tamil Nadu sans AIADMK, DMK is a worry-free state), coined by Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan) is our slogan”, Raghavan told DC on Sunday.
